Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was the younger sister of
media mogul, producer, musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada
Jones is her older sibling. There are five half-siblings due to her father's
other marriages. Her father is African American and her mother is Ashkenazi
Jewish (a descendant emigrants of Russia and Latvia). Rashida was educated in
Reform Judaism. She grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones has
stated of her multi-racial parentage, "It was the 1970s and still wasn't
that appropriate to have them together." Jones made her professional
acting debut with The Last Don in 1997 an animated mini-series, which was
influenced by Mario Puzo. Rashida has also graduated from Harvard University in
1997. Took a course at the Buckley School, Sherman Oaks, California. The school
was voted the most likely to succeed. Her name is Arabic (O+-O'UO-O(c)) to mean
"Major, adult, grown-up and wise". People Magazine's 50 Most
Beautiful People. (USA2002) Half-sister to Quincy Jones III and Jolie Jones. Martina
Jones, Kenya Kinski Jones, Rachel Jones, and Martina Jones. Formerly married to
Mark Ronson (music producer) 25 February 2003. Niece of Robert Lipton. She was
romantically connected to Josh Hartnett, Charlie Hunnam and John Krasinski.
Kidada Jones was the ring bearer for her sister's engagement and also a
vocalist for a Tupac Shakur tribute song. Kidada as well as Rashida were
recorded by Quincy Jones III, the brother of Quincy Jones III. Quincy Jones III
was present at the beginning of the song and recited the lines from the poem by
Shakur "Starry Night." The title of the song is a reference to the
poem. Rashida's father is African-American, also has a smaller amount of
English, Scottish and Welsh roots (some relatives of Rashida's African
relatives are from the Tikar people in Cameroon). Rashida's motheris Ashkenazi
Jewish (of Russian Jewish heritage and Latvian Jewish heritage), is Rashida.
Her maternal grandparents were from South Carolina and Mississippi. Her
maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was
born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European Jewish origin. At the time of
writing, 2009, she has appeared in three different characters using the title
"Karen" on cult classic TV comedies (Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella
(2005) and The Office (2005)).
